ZENITH HOMENAJEA AL PILOTO CHARLES KINGSFORD CON DOS SERIES LIMITADAS DEL PILOT

La Manufactura Zenith , establecida desde hace casi 150 años en el mismo domicilio , participó desde muy temprano en la increíble aventura de la aviación , y fue uno de los primeros en suministrar relojes e instrumentos de a bordo. Dos nuevos modelos de tipo de pilotos, 20 en homenaje a Charles Kingsford Smith sirven como recordatorios vivos de la función fundamental que desempeñan Zenith en la conquista de los cielos.

Charles Kingsford Smith fue uno de los primeros pioneros de la aviación australiana. Apasionado, valiente y audaz, siempre estaba en la búsqueda del próximo récord de vuelo. Entró en la leyenda de la aviación cuando se convirtió en el primer piloto de aire de llevar a cabo el vuelo a través del Pacífico a Australia desde la línea principal de Estados Unidos. Habiendo dejado Oakland , California el 31 de mayo 1928 a las  8.54 am a bordo de su Fokker F. VIIb/3m, la Cruz del Sur , resistiendo terribles tormentas y conquistó enormes distancias , consiguió el 9 de junio de 1928 en Brisbane, Australia, donde fue aclamado como un héroe nacional.

Es en honor a la memoria de Charles Kingsford Smith, el piloto dotado con un espíritu indomable y  emprendedor, que Zenith ha creado una serie limitada  de 20 piezas: el Pilot Type 20 GMT Homenaje a Charles Kingsford Smith. Un segundo modelo también rinde homenaje a este famoso aviador : el Pilot Type 20 Tourbillon Homenaje a Charles Kingsford Smith con caja de oro rosa.

The Manufacture Zenith, established for almost 150 years at the same address, took part from a very early stage in the amazing adventure of aviation and was one of the first to supply onboard watches and instruments. Two new Pilot Type 20 models paying tribute to Charles Kingsford Smith serve as vivid reminders of the fundamental role played by Zenith in the conquest of the skies.

Charles Kingsford Smith was one of the early pioneers of Australian aviation. Passionate, courageous and daring, he was ever in pursuit of the next record-breaking flight. He entered aviation legend when he became the first air pilot to accomplish the trans-Pacific flight to Australia from the mainline United States. Having left Oakland, California on 31 May 1928 at 8.54 a.m. aboard his Fokker F. VIIb/3m, the Southern Cross, weathered terrible storms and conquered huge distances, he landed on 9 June 1928 in Brisbane, Australia, where he was acclaimed as a national hero.

It is to honour the memory of Charles Kingsford Smith, the gifted airman with the indomitably enterprising spirit, that Zenith has created a 20-piece limited series: the Pilot Type 20 GMT Tribute to Charles Kingsford Smith.
